Fred Brown, CPYB

How an early passion for boats and the water led to a 40 year career.

As a youngster Fred had a love of boats. His family owned several power boats and were long-time members of Indian Neck Yacht Club in Branford, CT.

After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and spent several years as a Certified coxswain of Coast Guard search and rescue boats.

After the service Fred spent six years as a salesman in the wholesale marine business where he supplied boat yards and marinas throughout Connecticut.

In 1985 He began selling new boats and for the next 28 years worked at three reputable Connecticut dealerships selling new Sabre, Back Cove, Silverton, Mainship, Phoenix, Pursuit, Grady White, Egg Harbor and Ocean.Yachts. He even sold new sailboats by O'Day, Cal, Pearson and Freedom. That's a lot of new boat sales!

In 2013 Fred was ready for a change and decided to focus exclusively on the brokerage boat market. He joined Brewer Yacht Sales and spent several years at the home office at Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook. Fred now operates primarily out of the Brewer Yacht Sales offices at Safe Harbor Bruce & Johnsons Marina in Branford and at Safe Harbor Stratford Marina.

Buying or selling a yacht can be a comprehensive process and you should choose your broker carefully. Fred is proud of his reputation for honesty and his designation as a Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB). With 41 years and over 1,000 successful boat sales transactions (with a long list of repeat customers) the knowledge and experience Fred has gained is invaluable. Whether you are considering buying or selling, power or sail, Fred can help.
